With final approval of the $3.8 billion RFK Stadium redevelopment, the Washington Commanders are officially coming home and The District is entering a new chapter of growth, pride, and opportunity.
As Mayor Bowser noted in her statement, this project is more than a stadium. It’s a citywide investment in our businesses, our people, and our neighborhoods.
The redevelopment of the RFK site will:
- Create thousands of jobs for District residents
- Catalyze growth and investment in surrounding neighborhoods
- Reinforce DC as a hub for sports, entertainment, and community
Beyond the immediate economic impact, this project positions Washington, DC as a global destination where culture, commerce, and innovation come together. By unlocking opportunities that span industries and communities, we can ensure this redevelopment delivers lasting benefits across all eight wards.
As Bisnow reported, the stadium deal is a transformational milestone that aligns with our mission at the Washington DC Economic Partnership to promote inclusive growth and opportunity in the nation’s capital.
We look forward to collaborating with the Commanders, the District, and our partners to ensure this historic moment strengthens our economy, celebrates our community, and showcases DC on the world stage.
Welcome home, Commanders.
