OVERVIEW
Consumer Demand Drives DC’s Retail & Industrial Markets
DC’s retail sector continues to soar, with new openings along the city’s many retail corridors. National retailers such as Apple, REI, and Wegmans have joined local anchors Busboys & Poets, Ben’s Chili Bowl, and Lettie Gooch to capitalized on DC’s robust population growth and strong consumer demographics, which are backed by a consistent tourism market.
New retail openings across the city have supplemented existing and thriving businesses, leading to unprecedented retail growth in the District. Supermarkets, apparel stores, restaurants and distilleries are cropping up to support residential growth across the city’s neighborhoods. District residents, primarily millennials, on average spent 52% more on food, 62% more on apparel and services, and 48% more on entertainment in 2019 than the average American.
Industrial spaces offer a blend of manufacturing, warehouse and office space, as well as accessibility to DC’s reliable transportation and infrastructure systems. WDCEP can help you find the right space to suit your unique needs and requirements.
