The Wharf’s Pearl Street Warehouse is the New Entertainment Destination

Pearl Street Warehouse is the new destination for live music, comfort food and classic cocktails in DC, and is complemented by breathtaking views of the Southwest Waterfront. After 35 years in politics, Co-Founder Bruce Gates turned his passion into a profession. With a love of music and entertainment, Gates, along with partners Nicolas Fontana and Henry Gandy, brought Pearl Street Warehouse to life at The Wharf.

Gates came to DC in 1982, shortly after the opening of the 9:30 Club. Recognizing DC as the heart of the mid-Atlantic region with a greatly underutilized waterfront, Gates and his partners, who all have an affinity for the water, opened beloved dock bar, Cantina Marina in 2003, as an urban oasis on the water.

Most recently, Gates and Fontana saw an opportunity for new ventures on the waterfront, with the development of The Wharf. Pearl Street Warehouse, an intimate 280-person live music venue, curates a wide range of local musicians and national touring acts, showcasing Americana and roots genres including blues, bluegrass, country and rock. The venue, which also features a diner and two bars, boasts a menu of diner favorites like Tater Tots and the Drug Store Burger.

Pearl Street Warehouse provides an unparalleled experience for both the performer and the audience. The approachable atmosphere is the ideal spot to see a live show; the mezzanine level is just 25 feet from the stage, boasting unrivaled views of performers. With a strong love of music, and a connection to the Nashville music scene, Gates and Fontana have created a venue that emulates some of the country’s most revered live music venues. Pearl Street Warehouse is a place where music lovers will come time and time again, and where artists want to play. Artists also have the capability to record their performance as the venue is equipped with a 4K video system.

So what’s next for Pearl Street Warehouse?

Pearl Street Warehouse has an exciting lineup of acts which you can find at PearlStreetWarehouse.com. The diner recently launched breakfast, and is now running a nearly 24 hour operation, also offering late night service. Later this month, Gates and his partners will open a smaller version of Cantina Marina, Cantina Bambina, which will be the only bar on the water at The Wharf. Cantina Marina closed in October, and will return as part of Phase 2 of The Wharf.

Pearl Street Warehouse is quickly becoming the city’s most beloved Americana music venue. We cannot wait to catch more shows!
