WDCEP Prepares for ICSC RECon 2012

The WDCEP is preparing for another meeting-packed trade mission to the world’s largest retail conference, the 2012 International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) RECon this May, where the WDCEP has  represented the District of Columbia for the past 11 years.  ICSC is a trade association for the shopping center industry with over 44,000 members including developers, retailers, marketing specialists, investors, lenders, and shopping center owners.

In the past, ICSC conferences have been a key venue for deal-making to attract retailers to the District of Columbia and have led to deals with Target, Harris Teeter, Apple, and others. This year, the delegation will be focusing on finding retailers to fill the available spaces in high priority areas, including St. Elizabeth’s East Campus, the Shops at Dakota Crossing, CityCenterDC, Rhode Island Row, and several others.

Joining the delegation with WDCEP will be Mayor Gray, Deputy Mayor Hoskins, Councilmembers Kwame Brown, Alexander, Michael Brown, Evans, Orange, Graham, and other city partners.

During the conference, site selection teams will be on hand to present the entire portfolio of major real estate developments in the District to retailers, as well as give virtual GIS tours of the city. Through the Retail Site Search tool on WDCEP’s website, retailers will be able to view 350 available retail sites found throughout all of the neighborhoods in the District.  For more information regarding ICSC, please click HERE or contact Keith Sellars at ksellars@wdcep.com.
