Washington, DC Marketing Center to hold Annual Meeting and Development Showcase

The Washington, DC Marketing Center Annual Meeting and DC Development Showcase is scheduled for Tuesday, November 2, 2004, 11a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, 1330 Maryland Ave. SW.

This year’s event is expected to draw a crowd of 600 and will feature Mr. J. W. Marriott, Jr., Chairman & CEO of Marriott International, Inc. as keynote speaker. Each year this event celebrates the District’s economic revitalization and development dynamic and focuses on one industry and its development projects either completed or proposed in the District.

This year’s spotlight is on the District’s vibrant hospitality and tourism industry. As part of the Annual Meeting luncheon, the Marketing Center will present awards to winners of DC’s development/renovation projects in the hospitality and tourism industry.

Awards will be given in the following categories:

  • Most Catalytic Hospitality/Tourism Project
  • Best New Museum/Cultural Institution
  • Best New Hotel
  • Best Event/Special Exhibit
  • Best New Restaurant

The Marketing Center will release the third edition of the Development Activity Guide. This publication highlights more than 80 development projects in the District, spanning office, retail, residential, hospitality, and education. With $34.4 billion in development since 2001, the Development Guide exhibits the Districts’ robust economic resurgence.

The Development Showcase will feature an exhibition of development projects in all market segments throughout the District.
