Washington, DC Hosts Retail Summit
Twice each year, national retailers are invited to the Washington, DC for the Center’s Retail Summit. The summits are a component of the Marketing Center’s year-round retail attraction efforts.
The second Retail Summit of 2004 took place On October 28 and 29, the event allowing retailers to experience first hand the retail opportunities available in the city. Mayor Williams, Council member Vincent Orange, Michael Stevens, President and CEO of the Washington, DC Marketing Center and other District officials met with retailers representing the home furnishing, apparel, department store, and electronics industries.
Retailers were invited to the DC Building Industry Association’s Fall Retail Program, “Countdown to World Class: A New Context for Retail Downtown.” They were also given a presentation on retail opportunities and the District’s development dynamic at the Washington, DC Marketing Center offices. The summit concluded with a tour of downtown DC, the Southeast/Southwest waterfront and other key sites.
