• The Washington DC region has more multi-media artists than Boston or Austin
• Over 4,000 people are employed by the Smithsonian, with the majority in DC
• Only NY, LA and Chicago have more graphic designers than the DC region

• Theater groups estimate that there are 67 professional Washington area theaters presenting 454 productions, with an audience in 2007 of close to 2 million
