Technology and Economic Development…a perfect marriage

Earlier this year, WDCEP announced it would be entering into a collaborative relationship with the DC Technology Council (DC Tech) to leverage WDCEP resources and put a keen focus on the District’s burgeoning tech sector. On March 19, 2008, WDCEP held a reception to celebrate the new relationship and welcomed both DC Tech and WDCEP board members who met one another for the first time.

WDCEP CEO and President, Steve Moore described the relationship as a “homerun for both organizations.” Moore added the tech industry plays a huge role in the economic development occurring in the city and that we need to nurture it and find ways to continue to help it grow.

DC Tech Board member, John Kenny of InfoTech Strategies added, “this is a great marriage between organizations.” Kenny, also a member of the DC Tech transition team, remarked that working together really makes sense for both groups because technology is a part of every type of business.

Moore announced that in the near future, WDCEP will launch a tech incubator study to gain even deeper insight into the technology sector.
