Steve Moore Named New President & CEO of the WDCEP

Washington, D.C.—At a press conference today, Washington, DC Economic Partnership board co-chairs Stanley Jackson, Deputy Mayor for the Office of Planning and Economic Development and Edward Rogers, Partner, Nixon Peabody, LLP announced the selection of Steve Moore as new President and CEO of the Washington, DC Economic Partnership.

Moore was selected from a pool of 17 candidates for the top position. Prior to his new role as President and CEO of WDCEP, Moore served as Deputy Executive Director for the Downtown DC Business Improvement District. There, he was responsible for overseeing all aspects of the marketing, event planning and retail merchandising of the 140-block area of Downtown DC extending roughly from the White House to the Capitol.

Deputy Mayor Jackson applauded Mr. Moore’s creativity, commitment and energy, stating, “Steve clearly lines up with the WDCEP Board’s vision for the Partnership, he has an impressive record of collaborating both with the District Government and organizations from across the City as well as a strong commitment to the City.  One just needs to hear him talk about his role for the Partnership in marketing the City as a whole to understand our selection of Mr. Moore as the new President and CEO for the Partnership.”

Moore has an extensive background in retail which includes 15 years with The Rouse Company of Columbia Maryland. He directed the strategic planning, marketing and communications for urban projects including, the renowned Faneuil Hall Marketplace in Boston, The Tabor Center in Denver, South Street Seaport in New York City, Pioneer Place in Portland, the Westlake Center in Seattle and the Arizona Center in Phoenix.

Moore is a member of the International Downtown Association, The International Council of Shopping Centers, The Urban Land Institute and The DC Building Industry Association. Mr. Moore is the Vice President of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, and is a Board Member of the Downtown Public Space Management and Planning Corporation.
