“A Monument Never Baked me a Cupcake or Did my Taxes”… Nominate your Favorite Small Business

If it is not the quirkiest marketing campaign we have ever done, it sure is close: neighborhoods, coffee shops, and grocery stores have been blanketed with the WDCEP postcard campaign heralding the need to “nominate a monumental small business today!”

“We wanted to be playful with our message,” said Daour Diawara, WDCEP’s Manager of Business Development.  “We like the idea that small business is actually a big deal in DC—maybe as much a part of the District as the monuments.”

“We have all types of great small businesses in DC,” said Becca Gurney, the Creative Director of the Small Business Awards campaign.  “We tested the copy with partners, we liked it ourselves, and so we went with it.”
