Retail Spotlight | Progression Place

7th Street, NW between S & T Streets

The Shops at Progression Place feature 19,000 square feet of retail space comprised of nine restored historic retail storefronts as well as a new 5,000 square foot anchor retail bay at the ground floor of the 7th Flats apartment building. A diverse mix of dining, shopping, arts, nightlife and community-serving amenities are envisioned that will bring new life and vibrancy to the 7th Street corridor. With a built-in customer base drawn from the 7th Flats apartment residences and the surrounding community, as well as the working professionals who spend their days at The Offices at Progression Place, the Shops at Progression Place are the next great addition to the U Street/Florida Avenue corridor.

Progression Place is located around the corner from the newly renovated Historic Howard Theater, which reopened in April with kudos and enthusiasm from the community and region. The Shaw neighborhood is currently experiencing a resurgence and revitalization, helped by its close proximity to downtown DC’s core, its easy access to multiple modes of transportation including Metrorail, Metro buses and Capital Bikeshare, its exceptional walk score (91-Walker’s Paradise) and its lively cultural and entertainment venues, all of which make opportunities at Progression Place ideal for DC based entrepreneurs with original concepts.

Join unique, locally owned Shaw businesses like the recently opened Seasonal Pantry; DC’s best live music venue, the 9:30 Club; and Aplerstein’s Furniture, winner of the WDCEP’s 100-year-old Business of the Year.

Up to 2,000 square feet at Progression Place have been set aside for two historic retail bays that qualify as affordable neighborhood retail with rental rates established at 50% of market rate for years 1-3 of the lease agreement.
