Presenting By The People x WeDC House: A Day of Dialogues Imagining the Future of Washington, DC and the World
Part of Halcyon’s By The People festival, the event is presented in collaboration with the Washington DC Economic Partnership, and hosted at Eaton DC
(Washington, DC) May 23, 2019 – Halcyon, the nonprofit behind the By The People arts and dialogue festival, has collaborated with the Washington DC Economic Partnership (WDCEP) for a day of dialogues titled, “By The People x WeDC House,” taking place on Thursday, June 20, 2019 from 2:00 pm – 8:30 pm, hosted at Eaton DC.
WeDC House is a partnership between WDCEP and the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) to promote the WeDC campaign, positioning Washington, DC as the “Capital for Inclusive Innovation.” Through activities that facilitate new business connections within the private and public sectors including technology, innovation and creative economies, the campaign is able to showcase the city’s dedication to inclusivity, diversity and innovation with a focus on its communities, talented workforce and residents.
Halcyon’s By The People festival takes place in every quadrant of the city, bringing people together around the themes of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. By The People connects international artists, the District’s rapidly growing art scene, and the city’s long history of civic dialogue and debate. Through robust arts programming and dialogue, By The People puts human connection front and center, reminding us that more unites us than divides us.
“Collaborating with creative partners throughout the District gives us an opportunity to expand our audience and broaden our abilities to highlight Washington, DC as the capital of inclusive innovation,” said Keith J. Sellars, President & CEO of WDCEP. “The WeDC House at this year’s By The People festival will be the first of its kind, and we look forward to using this forum to promote our businesses and residents.”
Dialogue is a critical component of both By The People, a festival dedicated to building bridges within and between communities through art and dialogue, and the WeDC Campaign, focused on providing access, opportunity, resources to people, companies, and organizations in a way that aligns with their values and are represented in front of the world through unique programming, premier networking and one-of-a-kind activations.
The “By The People x WeDC House” dialogues will discuss the current state of food, transportation, and sports and entertainment, including how these issues will impact all of us into the future for Washington, DC and the world.
“In a town full of panel discussions and forums, this event puts a fresh lens on dialogue,” said Kate Goodall, CEO of Halcyon. “By The People x WeDC House takes extraordinary speakers and challenges them to envision what a better world might look like in each of their fields.”
