November 1, 2007- BusinessPremier Releases “2007 Association & Non-Profit Retention Study
DC is the hub for associations and non-profit organizations. More associations are based in DC, over 3000 in 2005, than any other city in the US and non-profits are the second largest employer in the District, totaling 44,078 employees. As this industry grows, real estate trends indicate organizations are migrating away from DC to neighboring towns.
The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning & Economic Development and the Washington, DC Economic Partnership seek to better understand the needs of this vital community to keep them in the city. BusinessPremier, a business retention & expansion initiative of the Washington, DC Economic Partnership and the Government of the District of Columbia, has collected information about the growing concerns and issues impacting more than 100 DC-based non-profits and associations.
