Mayor Gray Speaks at ICSC Mid-Atlantic
Mayor Vincent Gray gave opening remarks Tuesday, February 22 at the ICSC Mid-Atlantic Conference and Deal Making, the area’s largest retail real estate conference. The Mayor discussed the city’s commitment to the ICSC and referenced how trade missions to the ICSC Vegas conferences have led to deals with Target, Harris Teeter, Apple and others.
ICSC Mid-Atlantic took place February 22 – 23 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, with estimated total registration at 1,625 attendees, up 8% from 2010. WDCEP met with several retailers at its booth during the two-day conference, including Trader Joes, South Moon Under, Regal Entertainment Group, Au bon pain, Whole Foods, TJX Companies, AMC Theatres, Brown Shoe Company, Pret A Manger, Crumbs Bake Shop, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, and Seasons 52.
The District and WDCEP have had a presence at ICSC conferences for more than 10 years and it’s been a key venue for deal making to attract retailers to the District of Columbia, helping DC increase its estimated taxable retail & restaurants sales by more than 50% since 2000. The District will next participate in ICSC RECon, May 22-25, in Las Vegas, NV.
