Future Retail Hubs of Washington

WDCEP features 9 projects, or “retail hubs”, that each deliver more than 50,000-sq.-ft. of retail space in DC

The location of these 9 hubs: the under-served and quickly-growing quadrants of NE, SE, and SW in Washington, DC!

WDCEP recently attended the International Council of Shopping Centers’ RECon Exhibition to continue Washington, DC’s efforts to attract new retail to the city. After meeting with more than 70 retailers over the course of three days, WDCEP and delegation from the Government of the District of Columbia, educated retail site locators on the growth currently underway in Washington and opportunities for their businesses to locate inside DC.

It is an exciting time in Washington in new retail construction with about 1.8 million sq. ft. of retail space currently under construction in DC. The District is on the precipice of a major influx of brand new commercial space – prime for grocery stores, junior box retailers, and neighborhood-serving retail/services.
