This Map of the Month takes a closer look at recently completed and upcoming development projects in the Buzzard Point portion of the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood.

The neighborhood is well on its way to becoming an entertainment destination. It is already home to Nationals Park and the future site of D.C. United’s new stadium, which broke ground in February 2017, and Showplace Icon, which will open a 16-screen movie theater.

The Capitol Riverfront is a 500-acre district anchored by the U.S. Navy Yard, U.S. Department of Transportation headquarters, numerous mixed-use buildings, and three parks. The southwest portion of the neighborhood, known as Buzzard Point, is home to the former U.S. Coast Guard building which will be redeveloped into 485 residential units and 70,500 sq. ft. of retail space.
