LEVERAGE FREE INTERNS. BUILD A PIPELINE OF TALENT.

You are invited to attend a free breakfast seminar on Thursday, February 21st, to learn about how your company can use the District’s Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) to access summer interns.

SYEP is a six-week, locally-funded job placement program for District residents between the ages of 14 and 21. All participating youth receive payment of $7.25 per hour from the District—meaning that there is no cost to you. This year, SYEP will start on Monday, July 1, 2013, and will end on Friday, August 9, 2013. We expect to serve 12,000 youth, and our goal is to place 200 youth with local technology companies.

The District has worked to address startup ecosystem concerns like access to capital and affordability. I invite you to help us prepare our young residents for jobs in companies like yours. by becoming an SYEP host employer.

Startups are welcome, but to participate you must have a commercial office space with a dedicated seat for your youth. This includes incubators, shared offices, and executive suites.

For more information prior to the session, see www.summerjobs.dc.gov.
