Washington, D.C.—The Washington, DC Economic Partnership (WDCEP) is currently seeking interested applicants for internship positions for Spring/Summer 2009 (May to August) to assist with retail development, field research, and marketing/publication.
The WDCEP is a first point of contact for development and business opportunities in the District of Columbia. The WDCEP staff of nine facilitates economic development through business attraction and business retention programs and activities.
Core responsibilities of the internship positions include:
- Retail Development: Conduct field research on existing businesses, available space and development activity on DC’s key commercial corridors and emerging neighborhoods to help build a comprehensive retail and development inventory.
- Real Estate Development: Outreach to developers for historical photos of properties throughout Washington, DC for marketing projects to be used to promote the District for Economic Development.
- Field Research: Assist Senior Vice President for Retail & Real Estate Attraction and the Senior Director for Research and Visual Communications in field research of Washington, DC’s commercial corridors using the latest technology for information gathering and photo documentation.
- Publication, Events & Marketing: Assist Senior Director for Research & Visual Communications with research and editing of the WDCEP’s publications. Coordinate sponsor coverage and identify channels of distribution. Assist with general marketing activities for the organization.
- BusinessPremier: Assist Director of Industry & Business Development with management of PremierPlan business plan competition and the 2009 Small Business Awards as well as other Business Development Programming as needed.
All interns are expected to conduct themselves professionally, be willing to complete tasks as assigned or need, work efficiently and without supervision, and consider themselves part of the WDCEP team while on the job. This is an unpaid internship, but a monthly Metro stipend will be provided. Office dress code is business casual.
