Happy Birthday to…BusinessPremier
On March 26th, Local and Federal Certification and Procurement officials provided in-depth information regarding opportunities to gain small business contracts with government at the BusinessPremier: Doing Business with Government program. This event also marked the one-year anniversary of BusinessPremier, WDCEP’s business retention and expansion initiative.
Key highlights of the program included information on getting in on the more than $1.7B dollars of procurement spending by the DC government and the astounding $344B procurement budget for the US. Government. Eugene Cornelius, Director for the DC Office of the Small Business Administration, discussed SBA’s new partnership with the Department of Small & Local Business Development through a streamlined SBA 8A certification process for DSLBD CBEs. Since its inception, the BusinessPremier initiative has released 15,000 copies of the Doing Business in DC Guide Book, which is schedule to be released again with two new chapters at the programs 1st Annual Small Business Awards (July 30th); has held more than nine programs developed to bring to life this publication and provide valuable information to DC-based small businesses; and has produced industry retention studies on the DC Nonprofit & Association community.
