What to expect at WDCEP’s 2017 Annual Meeting


On December 12th, 2017, the people of Washington, DC will join together in the Washington Convention Center for the 17th year in a row to discuss the economic development in our nation’s capital. Attendees will be inspired by the growth and impact that our city is facing and celebrate the leaders of this movement. The day will be compiled of an ECON Showcase, influential speakers, and a networking luncheon. Read below to get a full description of these exciting experiences.

ECON Showcase

DC businesses will be demonstrating their services and technologies for all attendees to see and learn. Connect with DC entrepreneurs, makers & creatives, start-ups, and many more professions — all making an impact on the DC region.

Keynote Speaker: David Rubenstein

David Rubenstein is the incredibly influential Co-founder and Co-CEO of the Carlyle Group, a global alternative asset management firm based in DC. Rubenstein is also a chairman of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Smithsonian Institution, Brookings Institution, and President of the Economic Club of Washington, DC. At our Annual Meeting, we will have the pleasure of hearing him speak about the future of Washington, DC as well as the economic impact that we have seen take place in the city.

Mayor Bowser and other speakers

We will hear from other insightful leaders in the DC economic community. Roadside Development Founder Richard Lake will provide his insight on the developmmental projects taking place currently and in the future, and how that will be positively changing DC. We will also be hearing from Ward 2 Councilmember Jack Evans and Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development Brian Kenner. These governmental insights will showcase all of the impact DC is undergoing along with DC Mayor Muriel Bowser inspiring the room with DC’s numerous accomplishments in the past year.

Networking Luncheon

Finally, join us for our luncheon while continuing to network and gain advice from DC entrepreneurs.
