Deadline for Great Streets Grants is Fast Approaching

The Great Streets Initiative aims to promote the transformation of under-invested main corridors of the District into vibrant neighborhoods by using grants to leverage private investment in retail, housing, offices, and cultural centers. DMPED has allocated a total of $6.4 million for the current round of funding for the following Great Streets Grants:

• Pennsylvania Avenue, S.E.
• 7^th Street/N. Capitol Street, N.W.
• Nannie Helen Burrough Avenue, N.E.
• Georgia Avenue, N.W.

The deadline for application submission, via online only, for the following grants is Friday, February 15^th, 2013 at 4:00pm. DMPED will be awarding individual grants up to $85,000 each and grantees may utilize funds for storefront improvement or to purchase needed equipment to be used onsite.  Grant funds also may be used as reimbursement to grantees, which have made improvements to their properties after December 10^th, 2012, as capital expenditures.
