DCBC Reaches Over 1,600 Businesses

In only five years, the Washington, DC Marketing Center’s DC Business Connections program (DCBC) has visited a total of 1,650 businesses and nonprofits in the District as part of its business retention activities.

The program has provided 1,606 follow-up services to 705 companies either directly or through an extensive network of partners.

Services provided include site location assistance, identifying resources and programs designed to assist companies in expanding, as well as linking companies to the District Government for assistance with government procurement certification and navigating the business process and public service needs.

The companies assisted by DCBC represent a total of 180,937 jobs or approximately 27% of the District workforce. Approximately 95% of the businesses visited by DCBC chose to remain in DC when their leases expired.

DCBC strategically outreaches to those companies most at-risk of not renewing their office leases and leaving the city. Using a combination of telephone interviews and in-person company visits, DCBC gathers market intelligence from a broad spectrum of DC office tenants to understand their needs.

One of the greatest values of DCBC is that it provides customized services to DC businesses and aggregate analysis to the City’s policy makers to improve DC’s business climate.
