DC Takes Retail Opportunities to France
The Washington, DC Economic Partnership, the Downtown Business Improvement District, the District of Columbia’s Office of Planning and Economic Development, and Partnership board members Nixon Peabody, LLP recently attended MAPIC in Cannes, France.
MAPIC is the international market for retail real estate. It attracts key retail real estate professionals from throughout the world to one central location. MAPIC provides a unique and exclusive platform for retailers, developers and jurisdictions to showcase sites, new concepts and developments, all while increasing their visibility in the international market.
The event also provided seminars on international investing, advice on retail development in China and methods on how city authorities can stimulate commerce in city centers and maximize sales revenue.
MAPIC also provided a chance for DC to court European and world-wide retailers and to showcase the District’s retail opportunities. The delegation promoted DC’s retail strengths, available sites and retail success stories to an international audience of nearly 8,000 participants.
