DC Leads the Nation in Green Buildings

As summer temperatures stay hot for Washingtonians, building operators in DC are saving money on A/C by making their buildings green. The Environmental Protection Agency and US Green Building Council produce lists of cities with the greenest buildings. This year, Washington, DC ranks first on both lists.

With over 56 million square feet of EPA Energy Star certified property and 60 LEED Platinum certified spaces, Washington, DC ranks as the most energy efficient city per capita in the United States.

This month’s Map of the Month features Washington, DC’s green buildings, and shows how DC stacks up against other cities in the US.
