Published by the Washington DC Economic Partnership, the 2014 DC Doing Business Guide Offers Invaluable Tips on Starting a Business in DC
Washington, DC – The Washington, DC Economic Partnership (WDCEP) released its DC Doing Business Guide today, a “how-to manual” that provides a step-by-step guide on how to start a new business or expand an existing business in the District of Columbia. Published every two years, the guide offers invaluable information and resources for small to large sized companies. Designed to help every type of business, the guide includes numerous public and private resources filled with indispensable information on making the most of your business in the District of Columbia.
The DC Doing Business Guide is divided into thirteen chapters covering everything from writing a business plan and defining ownership structure to business insurance and government contracting. The 2014-2015 edition will bring all of the same reliable information that the DC Doing Business Guide is known for, plus a more comprehensive “Resource” chapter. This in-depth addition that will feature: a network of organizations that offer technical assistance to entrepreneurs, a list of co-working or shared working spaces available in the city, updated information on new incentives from both the local and federal government, as well as updates on the new Business Service Group from the Department of Employment Services (DOES) to assist entrepreneurs with their hiring needs.

The DC Doing Business Guide is the product of collaboration among several District and federal government entities and other business service providers, including: the Department of Small and Local Business Development, the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs, the Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, the U.S. Small Business Administration, the DC Office of Tax and Revenue, the Department of Employment Services, the DC Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the Women’s Business Resource Center, the Washington Area Community Investment Fund, the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and the DC Small Business Development Center Network.
