Washington, D.C.—Join two of the District of Columbia’s most influential policymakers, Patrick Canavan, director of DCRA and Causton Toney, chairperson of the DC Taxicab Commission at the WDCEP Business Initiatives Breakfast on Thursday, September 14, 2006, 8-10 a.m., 1301 K St, NW.
Dr. Canavan and Mr. Toney oversee large and complicated enterprises for the District. Each is well known as a committed visionary with daunting responsibility for change resistant city agencies. Their work and success touch the lives of almost every person in the District.
Both have the massive duty of keeping District residents, businesses and visitors protected. Both have worked to overhaul agencies with systemic challenges and both are on a mission to make them better.
In just one year, Dr. Canavan has implemented changes and new programs to modernize and streamline the services of DCRA. From the Homeowners Center, a one-stop permit shop for District homeowners seeking to make renovations and repairs to the crack down on illegitimate businesses and enhanced licensing enforcement inspections; DCRA is ensuring consumer protection.
As Chairperson of the Taxicab Commission, Causton Toney oversees of DC’s public vehicle-for-hire industry, which includes taxicabs and limousines. Mr. Toney’s work includes: strategic plans to improve the taxi service, standards and professionalism.
