Ambrose to Lead Economic Development Committee

In January, Councilmember Sharon Ambrose took over as the new Chair of the DC Council’s Committee on Economic Development. Other members of the committee include Councilmembers Jack Evans, Kwame Brown, Vincent Gray and Vincent Orange.

The Committee on Economic Development is responsible for matters related to economic, industrial and commercial development; the disposition of property for housing or economic development purposes; tourism, cultural affairs, international businesses and affairs; cable television; and matters related to the development of housing stock, energy and public utilities.

“The District has made substantial strives in Economic Development over the past five years. I intend to keep us on that forward path,” says Councilmember Ambrose of her new position.

“We are truly pleased that Ms. Ambrose has been named Chair of the Economic Development Committee. Her commitment to the residents and business community will only enhance the economic growth of the District and further the efforts of the Marketing Center,” says Michael Stevens, President and CEO of the Marketing Center.

Ms. Ambrose represents Ward 6 and was first elected in 1997, reelected in 1999 to a full four-year term and is currently serving her second full term, which began in January 2003.
