Input that Drives Initiative
The District’s economic vitality and business partnerships are at the core of the WDCEP’s Employer Engagement Program. The initiative connects the WDCEP team with private businesses, organizations and institutions to understand what makes Washington, DC an appealing choice for business and to help identify the challenges facing these companies. Resources for Small Business
DC Biz Chat is aimed at educating future and current small business owners and entrepreneurs on business best practices in D.C. Local business professionals provide participants in-person guidance on how to start and expand their business. Some of the topics covered include funding, finding office space, marketing and workforce development.

Marketing DC’s Retail Industry
Each year, Washington, D.C. joins more than 33,000 retail real estate professionals to highlight the city as a primary growth market to the nation’s retail development community. At the International Council of Shopping Centers’ annual meeting (RECon), the WDCEP team meets with retailers and restaurants to increase retail attraction in D.C. Past efforts at RECon have resulted in 14,800 – plus jobs, $116 million in annual sales tax revenue and 3.9 million SF of leases for D.C.
