Entrepreneurs Learn About DC Financial Incentives

On June 12th, a panel of government officials presented local entrepreneurs with an in-depth look at the Financial Incentives to doing business in the District of Columbia. This panel, part of the monthly Doing Business 2.0 seminar hosted by WDCEP, included topics of tax credits, the Great Streets Initiative, the DC Revenue Bond Program, and access to capital.

Doing Business 2.0: Financial Incentives

Being in proximity to the Federal Government has many benefits for business owners. Business owners are able to take advantage of many incentives offered from both the federal and local government. The government of the District of Columbia offers numerous incentives for entrepreneurs who are looking to locate or expand their business in DC, including the Great Streets program, the Enterprise Zone program and the DC Tech Incentive program.

ICSC Mid-Atlantic Boat Tour on the Potomac River

On Wednesday, June 12th, join colleagues from the public and private sector for a one-of-a-kind tour of development projects along the Potomac River in DC, Maryland and Virginia. The boat will depart from the pier at National Harbor, MD at 3:00 PM and cruise north to Alexandria, and on to the Capitol Riverfront and Southwest Waterfronts in DC. Hear directly from project planners and developers, ask questions and see these four unique developments from your seat aboard the boat. The reception will take place as we cruise south back to National Harbor.

Legislative Update: Large Retailer Accountability Act of 2013 (LRAA)

Council Bill 20-62, the Large Retailer Accountability Act of 2013, was introduced 1/8/13 by Phil Mendelson and was co-sponsored by all Councilmembers, except Kenyan McDuffie. The bill was initially referred to the Council Committee on Business, Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (BCRA) for review, public hearing and markup.

The bill has been marked-up and approved by the BRCA on 5/31/13. The bill is now pending in the Committee of the Whole (COW) where it will be considered by the full Council during the Legislative Meeting, currently scheduled for Tuesday, June 18, 2013.

DC Delegation Conducts Another Successful Trade Mission to ICSC RECon

Last month, Mayor Vincent Gray, Councilmembers, city officials and community partners joined the Washington, DC Economic Partnership (WDCEP) at the International Council of Shopping Centers’ (ICSC) RECon Convention in Las Vegas – the largest retail industry convention in the world. Washington DC Economic Partnership Releases Detailed Market Data on 50 Neighborhoods

The Washington DC Economic Partnership (WDCEP) is pleased to announce that the 2013 Neighborhood Profiles is now available. The Neighborhood Profiles were first published in 2001 focusing on 13 different neighborhoods. The 2013 version offers detailed demographic information, resources and maps for 50 neighborhoods and corridors supplementing traditional market data.
