Our Mission & Priorities

The Washington, DC Economic Partnership (WDCEP) is your first point of contact for development and business opportunities in the District of Columbia. We partner with all parties, public and private, interested in making DC a great place to do business.

Entrepreneurs and artists, along with budding technology gurus and non-profit visionaries, all come to us for guidance and assistance in mapping out their strategies for success. Whether you plan to start a District-based business, make your existing business more competitive, wish to connect to development and retail opportunities, or simply want to use our research to make better-informed decisions, think of the WDCEP as your economic development resource.

A 501(c)(3) organization, the Washington, DC Economic Partnership promotes business opportunities throughout the District and contributes to business retention and attraction activities.

What We Do
The WDCEP is your first point of contact for development and business opportunities in the District of Columbia. We facilitate economic development through business attraction and business retention programs and activities through the following services and initiatives,

Our Core Values

  • Enhance DC’s economy through jobs creation for DC residents, increasing tax revenues, retaining existing businesses and attracting new businesses.
  • Serve as an information clearinghouse and research center for prospects, businesses, DC agencies, and community stakeholders.
  • Tell the story of DC’s economic resurgence and development dynamic in local, regional, national and international markets.
  • Brand DC as a premier business environment and investment opportunity.
  • Provide resources to the community that support economic development.

WDCEP FY 2014 Priorities

Retail Attraction

  • Organize the District’s retail attraction efforts, including trade missions to ICSC conferences (Las Vegas, New York &amp Mid-Atlantic)
  • Conduct Neighborhood Retail/Restaurant Site Tours. FY14 tours include showcasing opportunities in Wards 4, 5, 7 and 8.
  • Promote retail and development opportunities that the District Government offers via RFP.

Business Development

  • Grow DC’s technology sector through our AccelerateDC Venture Mentoring Service by connecting emerging entrepreneurs with a team of mentors
  • Coordinate Entrepreneur Road Map (formerly Doing Business 2.0), a business development seminar series focusing on timely business topics, such as how to open, operate and expand a business in DC
  • Maintain a list of retailers and businesses looking to expand into the District
  • Assist the Deputy Mayor’s Office of Planning & Economic Development with business attraction & retention activities

Site Location Assistance

  • Provide assistance to businesses, non-profit organizations, and other entities located in or considering expanding or relocating to the District.
